Action Steps for Advancing Women Lawyers

Is your firm successfully advancing women lawyers? Has it been able to apply the recommendations of the Women Lawyers of Utah’s initiative on the advancement and retention of women lawyers?  If your firm would like to use a little help in this area, join national expert Cynthia Calvert for a free teleconference at noon on April 14, 2011.  She will provide concrete action steps firms can take to begin creating an environment where women lawyers can become high performers and rainmakers.  Topics to be covered include laying a proper foundation for a women’s advancement initiative, unspoken communication, inclusion of women in social activities, adopting flexible work options without creating a stigmatized mommy track, and bias-free evaluations.  Participants will have a chance to submit questions before or during the teleconference.

 Date:  April 14, 2011

 Time: Noon to 1:00

 Cost: Free

To register, go to this page:  www.ctcalvert.com/register.htm.  Please put in your name and email address, and you will receive an email asking you to confirm their registration.  Once you do, you will receive an email from Ms. Calvert with the call-in information and instructions.  The day before the event, you will receive a reminder and a handout.

About the speaker:  Cynthia Thomas Calvert is a lawyer, consultant, writer, and speaker with more than twenty-five years of experience in the legal industry.  She co-founded the Project for Attorney Retention, and has led ground-breaking research in the areas of flexible work for lawyers and the advancement of women lawyers.  She is the co-author of Solving the Part-Time Puzzle: The Law Firm’s Guide to Balanced Hours (NALP 2004) and Flex Success: The Lawyer’s Guide to Balanced Hours (WLL Press 2011).  Her website is www.ctcalvert.com.
