Intermountain Healthcare - Associate Counsel

Job Description:

This position provides contract reviews, contract drafts, research, counsel and guidance on legal and contractual questions or issues of a routine nature, usually in support of more senior attorneys and supports the attorneys who provide legal strategies for Intermountain Healthcare.
This position offers remote work capabilities. Candidates residing outside of the Intermountain footprint (Utah, Idaho, Nevada) must reside in a state where Intermountain has or can obtain employment registration.

Scope
This is a corporate position, reporting to a Division Director or Senior Counsel, typically with responsibilities within one or more legal subject matter areas.

Job Essentials
Provides support on legal, contractual, and regulatory issues.
Works under the direction of other Department attorneys. Reads, writes, analyzes and interprets legal documents.
Produces clear and concise written materials.
Communicates clearly and effectively in verbal interactions. Researches the intent of laws and judicial decisions and applies the law to the circumstances. Acts as legal advocate or advisor concerning legal rights, obligations and privileges of Intermountain and its subsidiaries.
Provides sound and prompt legal service and opinions. Ensures compliance with laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a Juris Doctor degree with excellent academic credentials and be admitted to the Utah State Bar or be willing to sit for the Utah State Bar exam. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Some professional experience working in the practice of law in a role requiring the demonstration of basic legal analysis.

Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare law.
Experience drafting, reviewing, redlining, and negotiating contracts, including commercial contracts, real estate contracts, investment contracts, contracts relating to mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, and corporate entity formation/governance agreements and documents.
