Responsibilities
Trystan Smith & Associates, State Farm’s In-House counsel in Salt Lake City, seeks a trial attorney with 0-5 years of civil litigation or jury trial experience. Competitive candidates should have a strong knowledge of Utah’s rules of civil procedure, rules of evidence and trial strategy, and must be licensed to practice law in Utah. This attorney will handle cases from inception to completion, with responsibilities, including depositions, motions, arbitrations, jury trials, and any other legal assignment(s) consistent with experience level. Competitive candidates should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to independently manage a caseload in a time sensitive environment.

Qualifications
0-5 years of experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply)
Civil litigation and jury trial experience preferred, but not required.
Strong knowledge of civil procedure, rules of evidence, and trial strategy
Competitive candidates may be asked to provide references and a writing sample.
Strong software and technology skills, including competency in Word, Outlook, and Lexis+.
D. from an ABA accredited law school, in the top half of graduating class and an active member in good standing of the Utah Bar.
Must successfully complete the Law Department’s and the Managing Attorney’s orientation and training programs.
Must maintain State Bar requirements and legal competency via continuing legal education programs.
