Assistant Attorney General – Justice The Justice Division of the Utah Attorney General’s Office is looking to hire an Assistant Attorney General to work in the SECURE/Human Trafficking section. This is a working level position with at least three years of experience in state and/or federal courts. This position requires excellent written and oral advocacy skills and the ability to try both jury and bench trials of a complicated nature. Preference will be given to applicants with an interest in criminal law and experience in preparing for and trying complex criminal cases. The human trafficking prosecutor works with the SECURE strike force to provide support to investigators and to prosecute human trafficking cases throughout the state of Utah. The prosecutor also assists with human trafficking training. Preference will be given to candidates with criminal litigation experience. The candidate must be a member in good standing with the Utah State Bar upon application. Background checks are completed as a condition of employment. Travel is required as incumbents will need to represent the State in criminal trials and other legal proceedings throughout the State. Salary is dependent on the applicant’s Utah State Bar admission date. For example, a lawyer with a Bar date of 2011 earns $36.57/hour.
