Utah Attorney General's Office - Assistant Attorney General – Opioid Litigation Contract

The Office of the Utah Attorney General, White Collar and Commercial Enforcement Division has an immediate opening for a one-year contract attorney to assist in representing the State in litigation arising from the opioid crisis. The successful applicant will have a minimum of five years litigation experience.

Duties will include working with outside counsel in preparing and litigating claims, coordinating with state agencies in gathering evidence demonstrating amount of loss and identifying abatement needs, participating in negotiations regarding potential settlements and allocation of proceeds, and formulating strategy for pursuing State claims. 

Applicants must possess excellent written and oral advocacy skills and demonstrate the ability to negotiate complex issues. Membership in the Utah State Bar in good standing is required. The position is located in Salt Lake City. Travel may be required as incumbents will need to engage in litigation and other legal proceedings throughout the State.
