Ethics and Discipline Committee. 4 attorney vacancies, 1 public member. 3-year term.

The committee is divided into screening panels that hold hearings to consider professional misconduct complaints against attorneys. Panels will dismiss the complaints, issue admonitions or reprimands, or direct the Office of Professional Conduct to file an action in district court. 10 or more years of practice is preferred. A substantial time commitment is required on the part of the volunteers.  Each panel meets 5 times a year from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Law and Justice Center to hear cases, and substantial preparation in advance of the hearings is often required. The committee’s procedural rules are located on the court’s website. Rules 14-50314-504, and 14-510 are the most relevant to understanding screening panel work.
