Responsibilities
State Farm's In-House counsel, Trystan Smith & Associates, seeks a lawyer with first-chair trial experience to handle insurance defense litigation. This position requires handling premise liability cases and third-party auto cases from inception to conclusion. Competitive candidates must be licensed to practice law in Utah, possess excellent oral advocacy skills, thorough writing skills, and have experience defending injury cases. We provide a congenial work environment, skilled support staff, and no billable hour requirement. We offer a competitive salary and a performance bonus. Handles litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department.
Handles motions, arbitrations, bench trials, and jury trials commensurate with level of experience.
Qualifications
Preferred candidate would have 5+ years of civil litigation experience, personal injury and trial experience.
Promotes the ethical and professional practice of law while interacting with State Farm associates, clients, litigants, members of the Bar, members of the judiciary and their staff, and all others while engaged in the practice of law on behalf of clients and State Farm.
J.D./L.L.B., from an A.B.A. accredited Law School, in the top half of graduating class and an active member in good standing of Bar in state of Utah.
Knowledge of insurance defense practice, including state and federal disclosure and discovery rules, trial practice and procedures and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience.
